Market Day October 11

Today's menu includes a really exciting new take on the pumpkin cupcake.  I've done the pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting too many times.  Today is a cinnamon cake with pumpkin spice buttercream!

baking lately

I am always trying new things in my kitchen and it's been awhile since I've updated my products list as well as my catering photos.  May and June were fun months for experimentation.  Here's what's been baking lately.

Macarons: these light almond flour and meringue based cookie are light and crispy filled with creamy pistachio Swiss meringue buttercream and tart passion fruit curd.  The flavors are endless with macarons.  Challenge me!
Rustic peach and ginger galette with lavender sugar.  Perfect for afternoon tea.
 Homemade apple fritters.  Simply amazing and decadent. These were my Father's Day gift to my husband.
 I provided 130 cupcakes for Head To Toe Preschool's end of the year circus extravaganza.

 Browned butter bacon chocolate chip cookies.  The salty sweet combination is inspiring me lately.  These amazing cookies will surprise you in a good way.
Blueberry white chocolate bread pudding with white chocolate rum sauce.  Rustic and simple but the rum sauce really elevates this bread pudding to a dinner party type dessert.
Vanilla ice cream cake with chocolate wafer layers.  All tinted pink for my eldest daughter's 6th birthday.  This mile high cake served close to 50 people.  We all wished there were leftovers!

We're headed out of town for a few weeks so I will not be able to fulfill any custom orders and I won't be at Market Day.  But don't fret, I'll be back for business at the end of July!  

S'mores cupcakes

My new favorite creation is a S'mores cupcake.  It's a chocolate cupcake with a graham cracker crust, toasted marshmallow filling and a marshmallow frosting.  Sinfully delicious!

cupcake lessons

I had the pleasure of baking with a bright and eager young woman this past weekend. She loves to make cupcakes and has a grandmother back in the US who tasked her with learning a few tricks.  The next time Nanseera sees her Grandma, she will surely impress her with her new skills.  
For the first lesson we made a basic moist chocolate cupcake and a Swiss meringue buttercream.  The icing is perfect for coloring and piping.  Adding the frosting details was Nanseera's favorite part.  And who wouldn't love playing with all the different colors and frosting tips?  
Such a lovely afternoon of cupcake making together.

I'm sorry if you've missed me at Market Day the past two weeks.  It's been a very busy month and will continue to be pretty busy so please email me with your custom order.  I will not be at Market Day April 5 or 12 because of a catering job and then a trip to Paris!  Woo Hoo!

busy in a great way

Hi friends!  I'm so sorry I missed everyone at Market Day this week.  Two reasons caused my absence; one being a nasty virus that has hit our home and two; I've been so busy with custom orders and catering jobs this week.  I simply didn't have time to bake a single thing more! It's such a blessing to be so busy baking and cooking my very favorite foods.

I've catered a few dinner parties lately and had so much fun picking and choosing a selection of appetizers, sides, salads and desserts to accompany any meal.  It's a nice change from all the sweets.  If you are hosting a party, luncheon or just want to have something different for dinner one night, consider asking me to cook for you.  It's like going to out to eat...in your own home!

updates from Ladytroupe Sweets

Thanks to everyone who is coming to Market Day at the US Embassy and stopping by Ladytroupe Sweets to say Hi and bring goodies home to their families.  I have a few updates:

Today for the first time at Market Day I sold a savory item.  Mini spinach and Gouda quiches.  They were a hit.

A new sandwich board which is beautifully handmade by my sister and her boyfriend.  It was a Christmas gift and I just love it!
I'm available for catering.  I am working on a new "catering" tab at the top of the blog if you are interested. This week I helped cook for a dinner party for six.  It was loads of fun so I hope I can continue this type of catering.
 I have been busy with lots of custom cake and ice cream orders.
